Call for Submissions: The City As Studio

The 20th annual Chicago Artists Month (CAM) will take place from October 1 – November 15, 2015. CAM is a program of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events that showcases the work of Chicago artists and arts organizations through independently-produced events taking place throughout Chicago. CAM 2015 will be in dialogue with the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial.

Call for Submissions will open: July 13 - 24, 2015
Attend the CAM Meet + Greet on Wednesday, June 17, 4-6pm, Chicago Cultural Center. RSVP Here.

CAM 2015 Prioritizes:
• Experimental, innovative projects with a strong and original artistic/creative vision
• New work (submissions will be accepted for both new and existing projects)
• Increased public access to and participation in high-quality arts (especially underrepresented populations);
• Collaboration (between neighborhoods, genres, demographically, or other)

2015 Theme:
The City as Studio
CAM invites Chicago-based artists, performers, designers, writers, arts and community organizations, and other creatives to look at Chicago, the City as Studio -- a place for production, investigation, innovation, and experimentation – through exhibitions, performances, installations, screenings, tours, festivals, art walks and more. As the third largest city in the U.S., Chicago is a studio with challenges, rewards and visions for the future. CAM 2015 will celebrate and investigate how artists and creatives who live and work in Chicago draw inspiration from its urban fabric - design, materials, density; its people - young, old, transient and rooted; its history(ies); and its environment - sky, lake, soil.

How to Participate
Submissions will be accepted online at www.chicagoartistsmonth.org from July 13 – 24, 2015. Events must feature living Chicago artists. Selections will be announced in early August. Approved programs will be listed online and in a print guide distributed city-wide. Up to 18 programs and artists will be featured, receiving additional marketing, technical and financial support up to $1,500.
