Call for Proposals for Chicago Artists Month

The 18th annual Chicago Artists Month (CAM) is a marketing initiative of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) that showcases the work of Chicago’s independent artists and arts organizations; highlights arts activity in Chicago neighborhoods; drives tourism; encourages collaboration and provides opportunities for creative expression and education for Chicagoans and visitors alike. Last year over 250 events were part of Chicago Artists Month, reaching an audience of over 100,000. CAM is a great way to diversity your audience and embark on new collaborations.

CAM is an open call that welcomes event submissions that:
+ Feature one or more Chicago-based artists
+ Take place in October at a public venue in Chicago
+ Event categories include: Exhibition, Performance, Open Studio, Art Walk, and Learning/Making

Events in any neighborhood in the City of Chicago are eligible to be part of CAM, but dedicated curators will be focused in these CAM 2013 Featured Neighborhoods on these weekends:
+ Edgewater / Uptown - Sept. 28-29
+ Portage Park -  Oct. 4-6
+ South Chicago / South Shore-  Oct 11-13
+ Pilsen - Oct 18-20
+ East Garfield Park -  Oct 24-26

Applicants are responsible for securing their own venues.

Proposals are accepted online at www.chicagoartistsmonth.org. Deadline for applications is 5pm, July 15, 2013

Selected proposals will be part of a robust marketing effort by DCASE in print, online and social media.
