The 20th annual Chicago Artists Month (CAM) is a program of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events that showcases the work of Chicago artists through independently-produced events taking place throughout Chicago.
2015 Theme
The City as Studio CAM 2015 will be in dialogue with the inaugural Chicago Architecture Biennial. CAM invites Chicago-based artists, performers, designers, writers, arts and community organizations, and other creatives to look at the City as a place for production, investigation, innovation, and experimentation
CAM 2015 Prioritizes:
Experimental, innovative projects
New work
Increased public access to and participation in high-quality arts, especially underrepresented populations
Collaboration (between neighborhoods, genres, demographically, or other)
Attend a CAM Meet + Greet Info Session

How to Participate
Submit your event(s) on chicagoartistsmonth.org between July 13 – 24, 2015. CAM Event categories include

Exhibition / Installation
Learning / Making
Open Studio
Performance / Screening
Selections will be announced in early August. All CAM programs will be listed online and in a print guide in Newcity distributed city-wide. Featured programs will receive additional mark

Call for Proposals for Chicago Artists Month
The 18th annual Chicago Artists Month (CAM) is a marketing initiative of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) that showcases the work of Chicago’s independent artists and arts organizations; highlights arts activity in Chicago neighborhoods; drives tourism; encourages collaboration and provides opportunities for creative expression and education for Chicagoans and visitors alike. Last year over 250 events were part of Chicago Artists Month, reaching an audience of over 100,000. CAM is a great way to diversity your audience and embark on new collaborations.
CAM is an open call that welcomes event submissions that:
+ Feature one or more Chicago-based artists
+ Take place in October at a public venue in Chicago
+ Event categories include: Exhibition, Performance, Open Studio, Art Walk, and Learning/Making
Events in any neighborhood in the City of Chicago are eligible to be part of CAM, but dedicated curators will be focused in these CAM 2013 Featured Neighborhoods on these weekends:
+ Edgewater / Uptown - Sept. 28-29
+ Portage Park - Oct. 4-6
+ South Chicago / South Shore- Oct 11-13
+ Pilsen - Oct 18-20
+ East Garfield Park - Oct 24-26
Applicants are responsible for securing their own venues.
Proposals are accepted online at www.chicagoartistsmonth.org. Deadline for applications is 5pm, July 15, 2013
Selected proposals will be part of a robust marketing effort by DCASE in print, online and social media.
