Annual Member Meeting

Please come to the annual member meeting on Monday at Victory Gardens. I will be talking about the work of the League over the past year and about what we will be doing over the coming year. It’s an opportunity for members to ask questions and make comments and suggestions. Of course, everyone is welcome to call or email me anytime to talk about the League, but this is also a chance meet the board and staff of the (did you know there are representatives of every budget category on the League board?), have a glass of wine and hang out with your colleagues. It’s only an hour and a half and I’d love to see you all there. 6:00 at Victory Gardens, RSVP to nancy@chicagoplays.com.

The past couple of weeks, I have been out talking to lots and lots of people, meetings and speaking and all kinds of stuff and I really can’t tell you what an honor it is to speak on behalf of the League and Chicago theatre. Last week I helped to organize an Elderhostel tour of Chicago theatre, (Elderhostel is a tour group for seniors that takes tours around the world, this was their first time doing a Chicago theatre tour). I had the opportunity to address them on the first day of their tour and on the last day. They saw shows, had backstage tours, went to workshops and sat in on classes and generally had a great exposure to who we are. At that last day they were absolutely ecstatic about what they had seen, two couples came up to me and said they were going home and asking their theatre communities why they can’t be more like Chicago. Another had been on several theatre tours before (New York and London) and said this was the best. Elderhostel has already scheduled another tour for next year. It was awesome, I was so puffed up with pride. You guys rock!
