Sing her Song of Life: A Prayer for Ntozake
Court Theatre has linked with FRESHH Inc Theater Company to create an opportunity and space for our communal prayers for Ntozake Shange's ascension to ancestor. We wish to honor and preserve her work as well as celebrate her contributions to our lives through her literary genius. We all are forever indebted to Ntozake Shange for her relentless commitment to make Black women ALIVE, with stories of joy, pain, and of SO MUCH LOVE on stages, on screen, in poems and in books. She brought us out to know ourselves, she sang Our songs. Without the warrior writer woman Ntozake Shange fearlessly forging the way, many of the spaces for women writers of color would not exist. For this, we are grateful. Join Court Theatre Wednesday November 7th from 5:30p - 6:30p as we celebrate the life and art of Ntozake Shange. There will be a synchronized communal reading coordinated with theaters in different cities. The text for the reading will be available so individuals can participate wherever they may be located.
