20% Theatre Company Will Close its Doors
It is with a heavy heart that, after 15 years of production, 20% Theatre Company Chicago will close its doors on December 31st, 2018. We are so grateful to have been a part of this incredible Chicago theatre community and for all of the work we have been able to produce, including 12 Snapshots Play Festivals, 8 Dark Room Play Writing Workshops, 25 mainstage productions, and countless staged readings. 20% Theatre has had the privilege of working with nearly 1,000 different theatre artists, including over 200 playwrights, in fulfillment of our mission to create opportunities for women’s voices and perspectives to be amplified on stage. We have been honored to be a part of the journey for so many burgeoning artists on their way to greater achievements. In the 15 year history of 20% Theatre Company Chicago, we worked to increase the percentage of differently represented voices on stage. Our members are still fighting for equality of representation, but now in new and equally important ways away from the theatre. We are proud to have been a part of such important work and are encouraged by the continuation of this work by others in our shared community. We see you. We support you. We are excited to see what comes next. From all of us at 20% Theatre, thank you.
