For 25 years, Trap Door has been the foremost purveyor of experimental, European style theatre in Chicago. In keeping with their promise to foster innovative forms of expression, Trap Door will open up its space to company members as well as guest artists for the development of new work and performances that exist outside the realm of a traditional theatrical run.
The “Trap Open” Series seeks to explore non-traditional forms of playmaking while developing and giving voice to the next generation of groundbreaking theatre artists.
The series began with the recent run of Sad Happy Sucker written by Lee Kirk, directed by Mike Steele. The next installment will be There Is No Power For The Electric Chair, a U.S. premiere of a new Bulgarian play written by Aleksandar Sekulov and directed by guest artist Zlatomir Moldovanski, opening October 21st, 2018. More performances and special events will be announced in the coming months.
