Artists Helping Artists. Family helping Family
On April 9, 2018 Season of Concern will present “Cabaret for Care” at The Goodman Theatre, hosted by E. Faye Butler and Honey West. The annual benefit features a fun-filled evening of song and theatre and the presentation of the annual Larry Sloan Awards, which are awarded to local organizations and individuals who have made a significant contribution to Season of Concern.
Our mission is simple. Season of Concern raises funds to provide compassionate care to those in the Chicagoland community who are experiencing the effects of catastrophic illness. This effort supports the fight against HIV/AIDS by contributing to direct-care support programs and directly assists theatre community members (Equity and Non-Equity) experiencing health-related emergencies and life-threatening medical issues.
I am writing to you in the hopes that your company will be able to help us raise monetary support by donating a prize to our raffle and auction. Theatre tickets, merchandise (caps, T-shirts, mugs) with your logo would be very helpful and one of a kind items (cast autographed scripts or posters for example) would be especially appreciated. Your generosity would be recognized in our program. Perhaps you can do more? If you donate a full subscription series (or any combination of gifts that retail for more than $150) we will include you as a special donor for the event. Special donors not only receive program recognition, but will also be thanked from the stage and featured on screens throughout the event.
This is a great way to engage new and enthusiastic patrons for your business. Should you be able to support our fundraising efforts, please contact michael@seasonofconcern.org or call me at 312-332-0518. Thank you for your consideration.
We are here for you!

Greenhouse Seeking Partners for Co-Productions in 2018-19
The Greenhouse Theater Center is seeking local theatre companies and artists to partner on co-productions during its 2018-19 Season. Located at 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, GTC’s theater complex houses four unique stages: two 190-seat main stages and two flexible, 60-seat blackbox studio spaces.
The Greenhouse offers partners a multitude of resources including a production manager, full-service box office and front-of-house staff, artistic consultation, marketing and public relations support, and a full-service bar with concessions.
During GTC’s critically acclaimed, 16-show Solo Celebration! Series in 2016, the Greenhouse staged four successful co-productions, which proved to be mutually beneficial relationships. GTC hopes to build on that dynamic by inviting Chicago companies and artists to bring their unique artistic visions to the Greenhouse where they can benefit from GTC’s professional support and resources.”
For additional information, contact Bill Spatz, Executive Director, at (312) 637-5323 or wmspatz@gmail.com.

Voices from a Changing Middle East
A Multi-Faith, Multi-Perspective Lens on the Palestinian-Israel conflict, with Mosaic Theater Company of DC
Tue, Feb 20, 7pm
Reception to follow
Logan Center, Performance Penthouse
915 E. 60th Street
Free / RSVP encouraged
Mosaic Theater Company of DC presents selections from its acclaimed Voices From a Changing Middle East Festival Tour, bringing works about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to life as seen through Muslim, Christian, and Jewish lenses.
The evening features excerpts from the adaptation of I Shall Not Hate, performed in Arabic and Hebrew with English surtitles by one of Israel's leading Palestinian actors, Gassan Abas. The work is complemented by Sir David Hare’s Via Dolorosa, the play that launched the Festival and its trailblazing Peace Café forum in 2000, performed by British born actor Jonathan Tindle. The evening culminates with screened excerpts from Aaron Davidman’s internationally acclaimed solo performance travelogue, Wrestling Jerusalem, now an award-winning film directed by Dylan Kussman.
The event will include discussion with the artists and Voices Festival founder, Ari Roth (U of C Lab HS, ’78), along with questions and conversation with the audience, modeling the Peace Café process of using food-for-thought menu selections from the plays to prompt sharing of personal narratives as predicate for building bonds of candor and understanding.
Please note that seating for this intimate event is limited. RSVPs are encouraged, but not required.
