Victory Gardens Theater in partnership with the League of Chicago Theaters celebrates the publication of DePaul University professor Damon Kiely's book
How to Read a Play: Script Analysis for Directors with a party, book signing, and expert panel. Kiely will read from his book, based on interviews with over forty directors, including many Chicago artists.

Lisa Portes, Leslie Buxbaum, Derrick Sanders, Jessica Thebus
, with moderation by Aaron Carter (Artistic Producer, Steppenwolf),
will discuss their strategies and ideas on how best to dig into scripts to turn them into dynamic stage productions. A celebratory reception will follow the panel, where attendees will be able to purchase the book at a discount rate, and have it signed by the author.
