-present a survey of captioning options currently utilized in Chicago
-define elements and standards that facilitate the best patron experience
-provide instruction and best practices for implementing a captioning program at your organization, including the creation of cost-effective DIY solutions

Who Should Attend
CCAC programs are always free of charge and open to the public. Click here to RSVP.
For this program, we recommend:
-mid-level cultural administrators from museums, theaters, zoos, gardens and other cultural spaces

The evening’s festivities include the Larry Sloan Awards, presented to individuals and organizations who have made exceptional contributions to supporting individuals living HIV/AIDS and other illnesses or injury. This year’s recipients include Season of Concern Board Member Emeritus Alexandra Billings (Transparent), actor/comedian Mitchell Fain (The Second City, The Santaland Diaries), the companies of Goodman Theatre’s A Christmas Carol, and the organizers of Arts Against AIDS.

Faye Butler and will feature performances by Bethany Thomas and Jess Godwin, Meghan Murphy, Mark David Kaplan, Christine Mild, Foiled Again, and a preview of Court Theatre’s production of One Man, Two Guvnors. Chicago Park District publishes new directory of arts spaces

Many artists across the city engage with the Chicago Park District’s cultural programs and events. From Park Cultural Instructors who offer over 3,000 annual arts classes in all disciplines to patrons of all ages. To local arts organizations who've made homes for their growing organizations through the Arts Partners in Residence Program. To local artists and audiences brought together in public space each summer during the 1,000 events produced by Night Out in the Parks. Chicago has the largest urban Park District in America, and the arts and culture programming that takes place in park space is something Chicagoans take pleasure and pride in. This October, the Chicago Park District publishes a brand new resource that furthers the vision of the Parks as dynamic cultural resources: the Chicago Parks Arts Spaces directory.

Chicago Parks Arts Spaces directory makes it easier for the community to discover park spaces that can be rented for culturally-focused classes, rehearsal, performance, and art-making, all within vibrant community settings. The new directory highlights an initial group of 71 parks spaces across 38 neighborhoods, furthering the District’s goal to continue to welcome, celebrate, and foster Chicago’s vibrant art scene in neighborhoods beyond the city center. Additional rental spaces to be added in the coming year.

Visit the Chicago Parks Arts Spaces directory here.

Chicago Parks Arts Spaces is brought to you by Chicago Park District in partnership with Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events and Fractured Atlas.

A Red Orchid Theatre's All for One: The Technique of Instinct Professional Development Series

A Red Orchid Theatre Presents: Professional Development Series
All for One: The Technique of Instinct

Resume submission and brief interview required.

As actors with an interest in maximizing both our opportunities for employment and expression one of our inevitable tendencies is to assume that there is one way to audition, one process for character development, one method for connection with our scene partners. This scene study class is based on the principle that an integration of multiple methods can successfully intertwine when the actor commits to the essential understanding that they are enough. The hands on goal with specific one-on-one work between teacher and student will be to identify blocks and unburden instinct for the purpose of ensuring consistent security in one’s craft. Weekly thematic focus around Cold Reading, Improvisation, Viewpoints, Shurtleff and Meisner techniques will be featured along with challenging scene material in the Red Orchid aesthetic for each student and partner.

Instructor: A Red Orchid Theatre ensemble member Larry Grimm
Dates: 6 weeks, 1st class Tuesday November 10 thereafter Mondays 11/23- 12/14
Time: 7:00 pm -10:00pm
Location: A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells St.
