Green for Green: Funding Opportunities to Make Your Building Energy Efficient

ComEd and Forefront are partnering to educate nonprofits on available funding for energy efficiency projects. Join them for one of two free sessions on July 12 in Oak Brook and August 9 in Chicago
Making your organization's office space or facilities more energy efficient doesn’t just help the environment — it can improve your bottom line for years to come.

Many nonprofits don’t take on energy-efficiency projects due to the initial expense required. You may be surprised to learn that there are grants to support energy-efficiency projects, large and small.

Learn from ComEd and Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation how to make your nonprofit facility or building energy efficient! Lunch will be provided. Thank you to ComEd for sponsoring this program.

Equipment For Sale from DesignLab Rental Shop

Larry Schoeneman is closing DesignLab’s rental shop and is selling all of its lighting equipment inventory. After more than forty years of working in the Chicago theatrical community, it is time for me to better use what I know about lighting and be less involved with the taxing physical work of moving gear around. Therefore, I am closing DesignLab’s rental shop and will sell all of its equipment: lights, cable, truss and everything in between. We will be open for this sale from Friday June 22 through Monday June 2, from 8 AM through 6 PM. The terms for this sale are cash only – no checks or credit cards – and the equipment must be paid for before it leaves the building.

I have loved working with the entire performing arts community. Thank you for your friendship over the years. So, come down for a cup of coffee or to buy some gear. Hope to see you here.

Click here for a partial list of inventory.

The Saints Award Grants to Metro Chicago Performing Arts Companies

The Saints, Volunteers for the Performing Arts, have announced that they are awarding more than $52,000 in grants to 16 performing arts groups in the Chicago metropolitan area for 2018. The grants were awarded to dance, music and theater organizations for 2018-19 projects. Over the last twenty-five years, the Saints have given more than $985,000 to over 250 companies and venues.

The 2018 grants are funding: enhancement of performance space, the crafting of unique costumes & props, translation and subtitles, musical instruments, the purchase of various kinds of technical equipment and more. Awardees, expressing their cultural and ethnic diversity, addressing underrepresented or physically challenged audiences/performers and their dedication to the creative, span the metro Chicago area.

The all-volunteer grant commission evaluated over 125 proposals totaling more than half a million dollars in monetary requests. Funding for the grants comes almost exclusively from the annual dues and donations of the over 2,300 members of The Saints. All donations are welcomed.

The Saints 5th Annual Grant Awards Presentation and Celebration will be held at the Athenaeum on Monday June 18. The doors will open at 6 pm for networking and a cash bar. At 7pm, we will begin the award presentation. The public is cordially invited to attend this free event. RSVP to grants@saintschicago.org.
