On Pins and Needles

Tomorrow is the big day. Olympics or no? Oddsmakers are giving it to Chicago. You can seriously bet on it. My Dad the stockbroker mentioned here before is also a guy who likes to place a wager, so I learned to check odds. It’s amazing, bookies will take a bet on anything. Anyway, I hope we get them…but what if we don’t? Maybe instead we could have a theatre Olympiad, theatres from all over the world come to Chicago for two weeks and we get new venues and lots of publicity and we can dream, can't we?

Related to that, plans for the TCG conference (our own mini-theatre Olympics) continue apace. Please go over to Nick Keenan’s blog and check out his challenge. We need 20 theatres to submit video and we will start to build our showcase site – showcasing a theatre a day. Videos can be anything…introduce yourselves, talk about your work, your space, write a play about you, whatever…if you think you can’t or don’t have the equipment, Nick’s even offering lessons. This is a great way to get your message out to a national audience of theatre professionals, and who knows what else it could become.
