About Face Theatre Seeks Play Submissions for OUT FRONT Series 2018
About Face Theatre is seeking play submissions for its OUT FRONT Series, an annual line-up of workshops and readings of new and developmental works exploring LGBTQIA themes. This season’s theme, “Babes on Stage,” will showcase on-the-rise LGBTQ+ women-identified playwrights. Readings will begin in spring 2018.
“LGBTQ+ women playwrights are creating such a wide variety of theatrical worlds and forms, yet their work remains underrepresented onstage, and most especially when it comes to trans women and queer women of color,” comments Artistic Director Megan Carney. “This call is for artists who want to see their work in conversation with others and who are seeking an innovative space for exploration.”
To apply for the OUT FRONT Series, e-mail full scripts and bios to literary@aboutfacetheatre.com with the subject line “BABES ON STAGE - [play title], [author name].” Submission may also be mailed to About Face Theatre, 5252 N. Broadway St., Chicago, IL 60640. For additional information, visit aboutfacetheatre.com/productions/out-front-series/. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, December 31, 2017.
About Face Theatre creates exceptional, innovative, and adventurous theatre and educational programming that advances the national dialogue on sexual and gender identity, and challenges and entertains audiences in Chicago and beyond.

Space Availability at The Factory Theater
Available Rental Space at The Factory Theater
Theater Space:
The stage is a ¾ thrust with a house of 72 seats. The space’s amenities also include: a well-furnished dressing room, two back stage bathrooms, sizable booth, excellent AC/Heat, rentable parking lot, Bauhaus-decorated lobby, and its steps off of the Red Line. We’ve hosted full productions, burlesque performances, summer camps, late nights, and parties. There are still a few free dates in 2017 open for rent, and we are also looking ahead to 2018.
Rehearsal Space:
The Substation is an adjoining store front space that is minimally furnished to comfortably accommodate rehearsals, workshops, classes, parties, meetings, or any other purpose for an open space. This space is newly available for Bookings, and we are excited to see how we can evolve it to better accommodate our renters and their events. Rentals are available immediately.
