Call to Action: Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah)

With the launch of our Holocaust Theater Catalog we have had a groundbreaking year at the National Jewish Theater Foundation, forever changing the landscape of Holocaust research, education and awareness. With nearly 600 play entries written on the subject since 1933 to the present day, it is the most extensive, easily accessible catalog of Holocaust related titles ever created. On April 13, 2015 we invite you and your theater to be a part of an inaugural event honoring the victims of the Holocaust by participating in Remembrance Readings for Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom HaShoah). Having recently launched this initiative in San Diego, we are proud to acknowledge La Jolla Playhouse, Old Globe and North Coast Repertory as participants.

Join theaters across the country by selecting a play from the Holocaust Theater Catalog for a staged reading, followed up by a discussion with the audience members about the lessons of the Holocaust and the relevance of those lessons in today's world. It is our heartfelt belief that by understanding the tragedy of the Holocaust we are better able to understand and fight violence, bigotry and destructive policies. Our greatest tools for fighting back are participation, information and education, which theater exemplifies and delivers in a profound way.
