Call for Volunteers for IPW 2014

Calling all Chicagoans! Our magnificent city needs your help to make IPW 2014 a success! We are looking for 800+ passionate, knowledgeable individuals to become IPW Chicago Ambassadors and assist with greeting, information desks, transportation, sightseeing tours, evening events and more. http://www.choosechicago.com/articles/view/Volunteer/925/

WHAT IS IPW 2014? IPW (formerly known as International Pow Wow) is the largest international tourism trade show hosted each year by the U.S. Travel Association. Cities compete to host IPW and this year it will be in our very own Chicago, April 5-9. More than 1,300 international travel buyers and 500 international media from over 70 countries attend the IPW marketplace with a focus on future travel to the United States. The media and buyers meet and network with over 3,700 U.S. suppliers.

WHY IS CHICAGO HOSTING IPW 2014?
• To promote Chicago as top-tier destination U.S. destination for international travel
• Chicago last hosted IPW in 1998 -- our city has changed dramatically over 16 years and we want to showcase our city to these key influencers
• Hosting IPW is key to achieving two key goals set forth by Mayor Rahm Emanuel
o Attract 50 million visitors by 2020
o Elevate Chicago to among the top 5 most visited U.S. cities by international travelers (currently ranked #9)
• Substantial economic impact:
o $13.3 million in direct spending in the host city by participants
o $1.3 million in state and local lodging and sales taxes
o $350 - $400 million in future business within three to five years after hosting the event

VOLUNTEER FOR 2 OR MORE SHIFTS
Volunteers who sign up and complete two or more IPW 2014 shifts will receive two complimentary tickets to one of the following Chicago attractions: John Hancock Observatory, Willis Tower Skydeck, Art Institute of Chicago, Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry, Adler Planetarium or The Field Museum.
