Call for Nominations - League of Chicago Theatres Board of Directors
The League of Chicago Theatres is now accepting nominations to fill upcoming vacancies on its Board of Directors. Nominees may be from any voting budget category theatre or a civic representative. Theater representatives must be from theaters that are full voting members of the League. Board members serve for 3 year terms.
Board Member Responsibilities
The role of the League is to promote, support and advocate for Chicago theater. As a board member, you are part of a dynamic team that will help guide the programs and priorities of the League. The board meets six times per year. Board members are expected to make meaningful and appropriate personal contributions to the board and its programs and are also expected to demonstrate leadership in encouraging member participation in League programs year-round.
Nomination Requirements
If you would like to nominate someone or be considered for League board membership, please submit a letter of intent that includes interest and qualifications, a current resume, and a two to three paragraph bio. Send nominations to: League of Chicago Theatres, Attn: Nominating Committee, 17 N. If you are curious about opening up communication about art-making, and want practice in a process that will inform your creative work and enhance your conversations about artistic works and processes then join us for this special workshop.
Liz Lerman's Critical Response Process advances the development of artistic works-in-progress through a four-step, facilitated dialogue between artists, peers, and audiences. In use for over 20 years, the Process has been enthusiastically embraced by artists, educators, and administrators at theater companies, dance centers, orchestras, museums and universities. The Process has opened new awareness and capabilities for deeper dialogue and learning between artists and audiences, teachers and students. Any combination of people who communicate about creative endeavors can benefit from the Critical Response Process.
The originator of the process, choreographer Liz Lerman will introduce the Process and demonstrate its application to real works-in-progress. Through a lively series of exercises they will illuminate its inner workings, core principles, and diverse uses.

Linklater Workshop and The Two Pence Lab
Join Two Pence Artistic Director and Designated Linklater Voice Teacher Trainee Tom Wells at The Acting Studio Chicago for this empowering class!
This course is based on Kristin Linklater’s methodology laid out in her book Freeing the Natural Voice. Work will focus on becoming aware of personal physical/psychological blocks that inhibit the human instrument, and then removing those blocks.
Through group floor and standing work, demonstration and exercises students will begin to establish, register, and free their connection to breath, develop resonance and explore range, learn to release jaw, tongue, and throat tensions and build vocal strength.
Explore, discover, and reveal the depth of your own vibrant human instrument.

Christine Adaire is a Designated Master Linklater Voice Teacher, trained by the world renowned voice teacher Kristin Linklater. She has worked as an actor, voice coach and director in many American regional theatres, including: Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The Old Globe, Milwaukee Rep, The Guthrie Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf, Court Theatre, American Players Theatre, Theatre for a New Audience (NYC), Shakespeare Santa Cruz and Shakespeare & Company (Lenox, MA). She has coached the dialects for the Broadway production and First North American Tour of MARY POPPINS. Ms. Adaire has taught at DePaul University, National Theatre School of Canada, University of Massachusetts-Amherst and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Sheʼs taught workshops in Shanghai, Barcelona, Australia, New Zealand and Birmingham, England. Currently she is a Professor in the Theatre Conservatory at the Chicago Conservatory of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

She has worked as an actor, voice coach and director in many American regional theatres, including: Oregon Shakespeare Festival, The Old Globe, Milwaukee Rep, The Guthrie Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf, Court Theatre, American Players Theatre, Theatre for a New Audience (NYC), Shakespeare Santa Cruz and Shakespeare & Company (Lenox, MA). She has coached the dialects for the Broadway production and First North American Tour of MARY POPPINS. Ms. Adaire has taught at DePaul University, National Theatre School of Canada, University of Massachusetts-Amherst and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Sheʼs taught workshops in Shanghai, Barcelona, Australia, New Zealand and Birmingham, England. Currently she is a Professor in the Theatre Conservatory at the Chicago Conservatory of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.

Gorilla Tango Bucktown (now under new management) is seeking children's/family shows to produce Saturdays and Sundays in Fall 2013! Great space for music performances as well as theater. Primetime slots available as early as August and up through December.
